Files and limits

Periscope accepts JPG, PNG, and PDF files. Anything else is rejected before it reaches verification.

Single documents

Most documents, like a bank statement or a proof of address, are one file. PDFs can have multiple pages. Periscope reads all of them.

Two-sided documents

An ID card or driver's license has two sides, and both carry information Periscope needs. You upload a front and a back as separate files. A passport is one page and doesn't need a second side.

Size and quality

There's a practical limit to how large a file can be before Periscope can't check it. If an upload is rejected as too large, try a smaller image or, for a PDF, fewer pages.

Quality matters more than resolution. A clear, flat, well-lit photo or a direct scan gives Periscope the best chance of reading a document correctly the first time. Avoid glare, shadows, cropped edges, and photos taken at an angle.

If something won't upload

Check the format first. If it's a JPG, PNG, or PDF and still won't go through, the file is likely too large or damaged. Re-export or rescan it and try again. If it uploads but doesn't verify, see Why a document might not verify.
